ABC book

I'm working on getting M to learn her ABC's. I tried once before and it didn't seem to click so I am trying again. This time I came up with the idea of making an ABC book with her. She loves to sit and read books so now she can enjoy one that she helped make!

First, I got an 8x8 scrapbook. Then I put my scrapbook paper (that is just sitting in the closet) to good use. I made pages for each letter of the alphabet (see picture below). On the next page I had M glue some letter A's that she cut from magazines. Not only was she working on her letters here but she was practicing her cutting and glueing! For the next page I had her color some letter A themed pictures. We also talked about the sound that A makes and how we can hear it in the beginning of the word.

Tomorrow we will cut out pictures of things that start with A for the next page.

We are spending a week on each letter. After a few weeks (maybe 5) we will spend a week doing review for each letter. During that week we will get to make letters out of clay, bake them and paint them. Stay tuned for that post!

Sorry for the lack of blogging lately! It has been busy both at work and home. The kids are in a ton of activities and we have not had time to visit new places recently. In my down time, I am planning my wedding and working out so I can look good in my wedding dress ;)

Also, for you iPhone users out there, there is a free app called ABC free. I have been letting M play it once in a while. It is basically like talking flash cards. When you tap the screen it will say the name of the letter and then say something like "A is for apple." The kids are really into games in the iPhone and iPad lately but they don't really get to play on my phone. One day I decided to let her play that game but told her that was the only game on there she could play, if she didn't want that one we could turn it off. I really don't want to have both of them begging to play all the time. Also the reason my iPad never comes to work with me! So glad theirs goes to work with dad!
